Hans Nickel is our new athletic director at Berean. He is excited about the opportunity to serve the Berean community. He and his wife, Sarah, have two children who have attended Berean for the past four years. Madison is a freshman in high school this year, and Ehli is in seventh grade. They recently moved to Newton and are attending Grace Community Church.
Hans has been the Assistant Commissioner for Operations at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) for the past three years, running conference championships and facilitating conference governance processes. Before his time with the KCAC, he served as an Assistant Professor for Sport Management at Sterling College for just over 11 years. Other athletic responsibilities he had at Sterling included Sports Information/Event Operations and Eligibility/Rules Compliance.
Hans is excited to serve the Berean community and anticipates another excellent year in athletics and activities. This year, the athletic department will emphasize playing for an audience of one. As students learn to play for Jesus, our athletic verse for the year will be Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for me.”
