Music Department Winter Highlights

Psalm 7:17 - “I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.” During the third quarter, the Berean music department was busy with pep band, contests, and concerts!  In January, elementary students enjoyed a performance of the Wichita Symphony, followed by an excursion to the Wichita Art Museum. Seven piano students (Cody Entz, Carson Thiessen, Esther Good, Ellie Good, Kiera Mullins, Jersey Busenitz, and CeCe Poole-Walker) participated in the Wichita State University piano festival in mid-January, with six receiving I ratings.  Ellie Good performed in the regional KSHSAA piano competition at the beginning of February and earned a II rating. Five musicians prepared for Kansas Music Educator’s Association All-State at the end of February.  Macy Mitchell played 2nd chair flute in the 1234A All-State Band, while Kate Roseberry sang in the All-State Treble Choir.  Kate also received a medallion for participating in All-State for three years. Junior High students Ivy Busenitz, Madison Nickel, and Kaitlynn Thiessen performed in the Middle Level All-State Choir.  A lot of rehearsal and preparation went into making each All-State concert a rich learning experience for the students!  Congratulations on your well-earned recognition!
